CLEARFIELD, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a 21-year-old Clinton man is dead after a drill bit pierced his heart in a freak accident at work.
Scott Nathan Johnson died on the scene of the accident, which happened about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Utility Trailer in Clearfield.
The Standard-Examiner reports Johnson was drilling floors into trailers and stood up on an assembly line rail when he apparently tripped and fell about four feet down.
Clearfield Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist tells The Salt Lake Tribune a drill bit he was holding punctured his chest and killed him immediately.
Investigators with Occupational Safety and Health Administration were investigating the incident.
