OGDEN — Firefighters contained an apartment fire in Ogden on Sunday.

Firefighters from Ogden, Northview, and Riverdale responded to Canyon Cove Apartments after a fire started around 12:25 p.m. on Sunday, according to officials.

Eric Bauman, Ogden Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief, said crews searched all 22 apartments for occupants, and all had exited the building except one individual who was sleeping.

Crews also rescued a dog and a cat as well, Bauman said.

The third floor of the apartments suffered extensive damage, as did the west end units on the first and second floors. No one was injured in the fire and all the occupants were evacuated safely.

Bauman estimated the damage at $200,000.

The Red Cross set up a victim assistance center at the clubhouse with the property manager. Firefighters assisted occupants in going back into the apartments and retrieving personal belongings.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and is being investigated by the fire marshal.
