SALT LAKE CITY — A California man was arrested after crashing a stolen car into a parked tour bus and resisting arrest, police say.
At approximately 7:22 a.m. Tuesday, Casey Kiel, 29, allegedly crashed the stolen 1998 Honda Civic he was driving into a tour bus parked at 161 W. 600 South before passing out in the vehicle from intoxication. Police received report of the collision and responded.
When two dispatched officers attempted to make contact with Kiel, he turned violent, resisted commands and attempted to restart the car and drive away, Salt Lake City police detective Cody Lougy said.
One of the officers deployed a stun gun and the officers were able to take Kiel into custody, according to police.
A police search of the vehicle turned up a syringe, heroin and stolen items, Lougy said.
Kiel was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, drug and paraphernalia possession, and a hit-and-run. Police said Kiel also had a felony warrant out of San Jose, California for attempted arson of his parents’ home, Lougy said.
