SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating after staff members found a man dead in the pool of a Salt Lake City recreation center Thursday morning.

A male body was discovered floating in the pool of the Northwest Recreation Center on 300 N. 1300 West around 5:30 a.m., according to Salt Lake City police detective Veronica Montoya.

The body was found by staff members arriving for work. The victim was identified as Michael Davis, 58. Broken glass was also discovered by the pool windows, indicating a forced entry. Davis had been seen alone outside of the rec center previously, police said. However, Davis' body had no obvious signs of trauma.

The investigation is ongoing and the body has been sent to the Utah Medical Examiner.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
