BRIAN HEAD — A young girl was injured Friday after falling from a ski lift at Brian Head Ski Resort.

The 4-year-old was riding the ski lift with an 8-year-old girl and fell when their skis became tangled, said Brian Head police officer Jared Burton. The accident occurred about 1:45 p.m.

The 8-year-old tried unsuccessfully to catch the younger girl, who fell more than 20 feet, Burton said. The girl landed on her feet and fell backward, suffering serious leg and shoulder injuries.

Her injuries are not life-threatening, Burton said.

The girl was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital. Her name was not released Friday.
