SALT LAKE CITY— The Wasatch Front received so much snow Saturday that UDOT decided to close Big Mountain Highway early. Several other roads across the state were also closed temporarily.

State Route 65, connecting Emigration Canyon in Salt Lake County to East Canyon in Morgan County, was among the affected routes. The road closes every winter, but it closed earlier than usual due to the snowfall Saturday.

Davis County was named as one of the areas that received the most snow with some places around the county receiving four inches of snow. Road plows and even those shoveling tried to keep up with keeping roads and walkways clear.

Snowplows were busy trying to keep the Interstate clear up Parleys Canyon on I-80. The snow did cause a few crashes and slide-offs. State troopers had to close the off-ramp at Echo to I-84 for a short time because of a crash. However, no major injuries were reported from accidents as of 6 p.m. Saturday night.

In Logan, there were also a few slide-offs and accidents but no major injuries. Several tow-truck drivers said they love the snowy weather.

"The first storms of the season — they are money makers," said Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Jason Kendrick.

In Sardine Canyon, a restriction was placed for any vehicle traveling without snow tires, a chain, and four-wheel drive until 9 p.m.

Other closed roads include the Alpine Loop up American Fork Canyon and Guardsman Pass in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
