2 Utah ski resorts open Friday

Editors Note: All openings subject to weather conditions.SALT LAKE CITY — Two Utah ski resorts will open this weekend, and many more have announced upcoming opening dates.

Salt Lake

Alta Ski Area

Weather permitting, Alta will open Nov. 22. Those wishing to pick up season passes or cards beforehand can do so at the Wasatch Powder House, 3138 E. 6200 South, on Saturdays through Nov. 16 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Brighton Resort

Brighton announced Wednesday that it would open Nov. 8. and lifts will begin operation at 9 a.m. Day passes cost $37.

Explorer and Majestic chairlifts, accessing three trails and a mini terrain park would open Friday, and Snake Creek and Crest lift were expected to open later.

Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort

This ski resort will open its runs Nov. 20. In December, the Gad 2 Chairlift will replace the old, cutting the lift ride time nearly in half.

Also, Snowbird is partnering with Mountain Collective as part of their 12-day, six resort pass for $379.

Solitude Mountain Resort

Solitude moved its opening day up to Friday, Nov. 8 earlier this week. The resort will open three lifts and four groomed runs, and are offering discounted ticket prices. Adult lift passes will be $39 and children’s will be $24.

Park City

Canyons Resort

In Park City, Canyons is starting up its lifts on Nov. 29. Purchasing tickets online or over the phone in advance can save skiers and snowboarders up to 48 percent on adult passes and 54 percent on child and senior passes.

Deer Valley

Starting Dec. 7, Deer Valley’s runs will open for skiers. Check out the resort’s powder using Deer Valley’s webcams.

Park City Mountain Resort

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Park City Mountain Resort will open Saturday, Nov. 23. Live entertainment and an aprés party in the resort base area will kick off the celebrations.

The resort is offering discounts of up to 35 percent on lift tickets for early purchases.

Provo

Sundance

The Provo Canyon resort will open Dec. 6 and night skiing will begin Dec. 13.

Northern Utah

Beaver Mountain

This resort has not yet announced its opening date. Ski Utah estimates mid-December.

Powder Mountain

According to Ski Utah, Powder Mountain is anticipated to open Nov. 27.

Snowbasin

The winter season for Snowbasin will open Thanksgiving Day. The resort will also host a Thanksgiving dinner from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Reservations are required.

Wolf Mountain

Wolf Mountain will open Dec. 5.

Southern Utah

Brian Head

Brian Head opens Nov. 15 with a competitive rail jam event on Nov. 16. Those interested in season passes can get 10 percent off the full price through Nov. 10.

Eagle Point

This Beaver resort will open Dec. 19 and lift tickets are $25.
