SALT LAKE CITY — Snow hit the valley floors of the Wasatch Front Sunday, leaving some excited for winter and others a little miffed.
Kristen Langston said she did not believe her daughter when she informed her it was snowing Sunday morning.
"I laughed and promptly said, 'No it isn't,' " she said. "Then I looked outside, and sure enough it was. Surprise!"
Langston said she is not ready for snow yet — she needs warmth. She joked that it is time to move to a warmer state.
Matthew Clay is not excited to drive in the snow, but said the precipitation is a good thing for the state.
"I may not like driving in it and such, but we do need the snow," he said. "The main problem I have with the snow is the fact that people forget how to drive safely in it. It seems like every year people need to go back to driving school and learn how to deal with driving in it again."

Chaz Nelson said he was excited to see the snow Sunday, but wishes there was more.
"I don't like the half-snows," he said. "If it's going to snow, it needs to snow like a foot or two. I hate the in-between weather."
Nelson said it's a good sign of what's to come, including snowboarding season.
The Beehive State is definitely heading into winter after the cold front moved in early Sunday, said KSL meteorologist Lynae Miyer.
"The average high for this time of year is about 56 degrees," she said, noting that the temperature Sunday was about 44 in Salt Lake City. "So we're coming in below that at least for the next three days. We'll only be in the 40s, which are typical temperatures for like the first week of December."
Miyer said the cold air brought in a little precipitation, with temperatures cold enough to bring anywhere from a trace to 1 inch of snow to the valleys.
"We're definitely feeling this cold winter-like air, but this is typical for our fall transitions," she said. "We'll see a little bit of a warm up and then we'll see a big drop. Then temperatures warm up a little bit more, and then we'll see another drop. Finally the cold air wins out and the temperatures finally drop to where they're supposed to be."

Miyer said the cold temperature will continue through about Wednesday or Thursday, bringing with it a few more flurries.
"We'll see a little bit of snow, though it's not going to be snow that is frustrating or bothersome," Miyer said. "It's just more of that light snow that kind of coats the cars and maybe the grass and then evaporates as the sun comes back out."
Highs Monday and Tuesday in the Salt Lake Valley will be in the low 40s with lows in the upper 20s. By Thursday and through the weekend, the high temperatures should be in the upper 50s.
