OREM — On the Squaw Peak overlook Saturday afternoon, a small crowd gathered to watch a golden eagle take flight for the first time in a long time.
Great Basin Wildlife Rescue released the rehabilitated eagle along with two Swainson's hawks and a great horned owl in honor of Raptor Watch Day.
The organization rehabilitates injured birds and releases them back into the wild.
"Freedom is an incredible thing we have here. It's a wonderful thing to be able to give freedom back to these birds that have been rehabilitated," said Ken Lebbon, development director of the Great Basin Wildlife Rescue.
The wind was strong at the lookout, but all the birds were released without incident.
