SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man is offering to rent a room in his house for free. There is, however, a catch.

There's always a catch.

John D. Storey is a man with a dream. His dream is simple: help other people fulfill their own dreams. He recently posted a classified advertisement on KSL.com in the "Free" category offering a room in his house at no cost. The stipulation? The room's occupant must use the space to create "projects that are so cool that even if there were no monetary incentive, people would want to join in."

Storey said he encourages artists to do things they've never thought possible.

In the posting he says "O.K., so it's a long story, but basically I want to help someone live their dream, become an artist, or start a business. I'm giving away a room in my house to anyone with aspirations or an awesome goal".

Storey also warns would-be applicants to avoid responding with a simple "I want free rent" reply. He said he wants people who are motivated and driven to reach their goals.

Why does he do it?

"I don't know, I guess I just love helping people when no one else will," Storey said.

To contact Storey with reasons why you would be a good candidate for his free room, email johndangerstorey@gmail.com.
