SALT LAKE CITY — So back in June of last year I wrote an article called "5 of the greatest single shots in movie history" and you guys seemed to like it quite a bit. So, when this video popped up I thought I'd share it with you.
The video is called "The Art of Steadicam" and it was posted by Refocused Media. The video is 10 minutes long and it includes some of the greatest steadicam work you'll ever see. While steadicam isn't exactly the same as a single shot, almost all single shots are filmed with a steadicam.
The visuals of a steadicam shot are both engrossing and dynamic. It's one of the storyteller's best tools to get the audience into the action and get a sense of what the characters are actually experiencing.
The editor of the video said he was inspired to make the 10-minute compilation after searching through the database of "top" clips on steadishots.org. A pretty cool site you should check out.
The video includes clips from classics like "Rocky" and "The Shining" but also has some great camera work from some not-so-great movies like "Doom" and "The Peacemaker." The video even includes some great shots from TV shows like "The West Wing" and "The X-Files."
For a full list of the films included in the video hit the link.
If you've got 10 minutes watch the video, if you don't have 10 minutes and you're a movie fan, watch the video.
