LEWISTON, Cache County — The family of a man who has been missing for days now is desperate for answers, but they say they are having a difficult time getting information because the man is an adult.

Chase Clements, 22, disappeared on Wednesday, seemingly without a trace. His family says the circumstances are unusual and that they've hit some roadblocks because he is an adult.

They can't think of any reason why he'd willingly disappear, but not knowing is the worst part.

"Emotionally, you go through a gamut of all these feelings of extreme loss," said his father, Mark Clements. "You initially start out with extreme heartache and pain, and you're feeling the loss."

The past few days have been a nightmare for Mark and Nancy Clements, who get emotional talking about their son. They say it's not like him to disappear, and that he was his usual self when he talked to his mother on Tuesday.

"He said he was really excited that night ‘cause he was going to play pool with some friends, and that's what he enjoyed doing," said his mother, Nancy Clements.

One of his roommates last saw Chase leaving his home on Wednesday on what was a typical day off. Friends became concerned when they didn't hear from him the next day, and when he didn't show up for work at a meat-packing plant in Hyrum.

The Clements family has created a Facebook page to gather information about Chase's potential whereabouts.

His family says he didn't take any clothes, not even his toothbrush.

"Nothing out of the ordinary that would suggest that he had packed up to go somewhere," Mark Clements said.

Chase's cell phone has been off since Thursday. The only possible clue is that someone used Chase's debit card at a Motel 6 in Ely, Nev. It was also used at an ATM and a gas station. But the family doesn't know if it was Chase.

They filed a report with Ely Police, but because Chase is an adult, they need the legal authority to access his records.

"They do have some video surveillance stuff that we can get a hold of, but at this time we can't, until we get through the legal process," Mark Clements said.

The family doesn't know if Chase left on his own or if something happened to him, but they said he would never leave his dog behind.

"His dog was his baby," Nancy Clements said.

His parents hope someone has seen him, just so they can know he's OK.

"We love him very much and I want him back," his mother said.

The Cache County Sheriff's Office is investigating and, according to the family, has listed Chase as a missing person. The detective on the case did not return calls from KSL.
