SALT LAKE CITY — A World War II veteran at long last has received medals he earned for his service in the Philippines.

Senator Orrin Hatch presented Morgan resident Lewis Frongner, 92, with prestigious medals he earned, but never received, from his 20 months of service in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. The medals include the very prestigious Bronze Star Medal.

Frongner served with the 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Division as a light mortar crewman He was in charge of setting and firing 60-millimeter mortar guns to place explosive shells on enemy positions.
