LAYTON — A chance run-in led police in Layton to arrest a couple of suspected serial burglars.

A patrol officer came across Christopher Wright, 27, and Christopher Reynolds, 29, walking near Main Street and Hillfield Road about 4 a.m. Sunday. A search of their belongings revealed items from a vehicle burglary.

An investigation followed, and detectives now believe Reynolds took part in at least two other burglaries. Wright is suspected in at least 18 burglaries of cars, homes and businesses.

A search of the men's Layton residences turned up stolen property from many of the suspected burglaries. Police are working to identify the victims and return the stolen property.

Wright was booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of multiple burglaries and theft, failure to register as a sex offender, and multiple instances of criminal trespassing.

Reynolds was booked into jail for investigation of vehicle burglary, theft, possession of stolen property and criminal trespassing.
