RIVERTON — One Riverton family takes the holiday season to a new level. One of their Christmas trees stays up all year, but as soon as Halloween ends their house takes on a new look.

There's no place like this home for the holidays. When you walk through the door, the smell of pine and cinnamon permeates the house. Every room is decked with holiday cheer and decorations that have passed down for generations.

"My wife's father and mother, they collected," said homeowner, Steve Brooks.

As newlyweds, the Brooks decided to keep up the tradition. Throughout the years and on every vacation they pick up another nativity set or Christmas ornament.

They have more than 30 trees throughout the house, and each one has a specific theme. Looking through them, it is apparent that Christmas decorations have evolved.

It takes the Brooks six weeks to set out all of the Santa cut-outs and nativity scenes. And some of the decorations stay out all year long.

"We love Christmas and each year just try to make it a little bit nicer and invite people in to see our home so they can enjoy it also," Brooks said.

They hold an open house for about 200 friends and neighbors every year. Even though Brooks says everyone that comes through gets excited, he looks forward the most to the kids' reactions.

"If the children can be happy coming through and enjoying it, I think that would make Christ happy," Brooks said.

That is what he says the Christmas season is all about. They never put away some of the decorations because when their son went on a mission he asked his mom and dad to keep the Christmas tree out. Fifteen years later, it's still up year round.
