SALT LAKE CITY — Former Weber State University point guard Damian Lillard has lit up the NBA as the Portland Trail Blazers' starting point guard. If his success continues, and there is no signs of it not, he could be looking at the title of "Rookie of the Year."
And although Lillard is able to dominate on the court, he has one bizarre fear. Lillard is afraid of statues. Yeah, statues.
Before playing the Washington Wizards, Lillard spent the night before driving around Washington D.C. After shootaround on Wednesday, Lillard tweeted: "I like DC. I wana come back and visit the memorials even though I'm scared of statues." He followed the tweet up with, "People I'm only scared of historic statues. Abraham Lincoln, MLK, etc. Had a bad experience at the wax museum lmao."

Lillard said he doesn't know exactly when the fear started, but is able to think back to time he visited a wax museum two years before his senior season at Weber State.
"The last room was Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Luther King, Malcom X, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln — all these big-time historic people, and it looked just like them. Same size," he said prior to Wednesday's game. "They had music playing in the room to set the mood, and it just threw me off.

"Ever since then, I'm done. Even at Lake Oswego, I drive past the cemetery, and there's a statue of Jesus with his hands up. That even scared me. I don't mess with statues no more," he added.
Lillard said while driving through Washington D.C., "All I could think of was Abraham Lincoln getting killed."
Poor guy, maybe he just has a vivid imagination. Maybe opposing teams should use Lillard's kryptonite to their advantage.

Clippers fail
In my field, if I make a spelling or grammatical error, I'm sure to get several emails about how incompetent I am. However, we all make mistakes, even with something so routine in the day-to-day cycle. Unfortunately for the Los Angeles Clippers, their mistake was pretty obvious.
Following a Clippers game, ESPN LA contributor Arash Markazi tweeted out a picture of the error, which showed a Clippers backdrop for press conferences. The logo, however, was missing an "L" and read as the "Cippers."
They're not the first to make a mistake though. A few years ago, the Washington Nationals made a spelling error on their uniform, spelling out "Natinals."
Remember, we all make mistakes. I'm sure you make mistakes at your job too.
Other random stuff:
- The tickets for the ACC Championship between Florida State and Georgia Tech are not that hot of an item apparently. According to StubHub, some tickets are selling for as low as $4. As a result, USA Today decided to list 16 things more costly than a ticket to the ACC Championship game.
- Good ol' Rick Reilly is at it again. Prior to the Notre Dame-USC game, Reilly tweeted: "No way Notre Dame beats USC tonight. If I'm wrong, I'll come to South Bend + polish every freaking helmet. I can't be wrong ALL year, can I?" Well, Notre Dame obviously won and Reilly paid up on his bet. Here is the photo of Reilly polishing the helmets.
- LeBron James Jr., 6, made a pretty impressive trick shot, making a basket from the house balcony. Sure, it took four attempts, but how many 6-year-olds can make that shot? Maybe we'll see another LeBron James in the NBA in about 15 years. Everyone can go on hating him for something he did too.
- "Carol of the Balls." It's the new video released by the NBA announcing its special Christmas Day jerseys. The video features Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, Dwyane Wade and Joe Johnson. The five players use basketballs to make a musical Christmas treat.
