SALT LAKE CITY — And the opponent is... San Diego State.

The Aztecs have accepted a bid to play BYU in the Poinsettia Bowl, which will be played Dec. 20 in San Diego.

The Aztecs (9-3) started the season off poorly, going 2-3, before winning seven straight and earning a share of the Mountain West title.

SDSU tied with Fresno State, going 7-1 in league. If Boise State beats Nevada on Saturday, it'll be a three-way tie atop the MWC.

"This is a great day for college football in San Diego," said Bowl president John Wertz. "We're excited to renew a longtime rivalry between the Aztecs and Cougars in this year's bowl. This most certainly will be a game to remember for many year to come."

BYU has a 27-7-1 record against San Diego State, and has won the last five meetings between the two teams.

"The Poinsettia Bowl is one of the best events I have ever been involved with and it will be a tremendous experience for our student-athletes," said SDSU head coach Rocky Long. "Best of all, we will have the opportunity to play in front of our fans and that will make for a great atmosphere on Dec. 20."

The game will be televised by ESPN.

Jabari Parker Style

First T-shirts, now BYU Cougar fans have made a music video to help lure star high school basketball player Jabari Parker to Provo.

At Saturday's BYU basketball game against Cal State Northridge, a game with Parker in attendance, the stands were full of fans wearing T-shirts that read "Chicago to Provo."

Some fans even tried to "write" Jabari on Y Mountain and had gotten as far as 'JAB' before police told them that was a no-no.

Now we've got the "Jabari Parker Style" parody video to Psy's catchy "Gangnam Style."

Here's a sampling of the lyrics:

"Might sign with Duke, MSU, and I said oh, no. There's only one place for you Jabari, that's Provo."

Not sure it'll work but give it to BYU fans for being passionate... and creative.

No look catch

Speaking of creative, or maybe just downright lucky, but did you see the catch by New Mexico Sate's Kemonte Bateman Saturday against BYU?

The pass was well-defended and was even deflected, but still somehow ended up in the arms of Bateman, who wasn't even looking at the ball when it fell into his arms.

The 67-yard TD catch got the Aggies within nine points of BYU, but that was probably NMSU's last highlight before the Cougars went on to score 27 unanswered points.

BYU Top 5It seems to make sense that BYU's Top 5 plays from Saturday's blowout win against NMSU are Cody Hoffman's five touchdown receptions, but apparently BYUtv wanted to share the love with the defense and special teams.

But make no mistake Hoffman's day (12 catches, 182 yards, 5 TDs) officially pushed him into the elite BYU receiver class right next to Austin Collie.

Dunn it againCan we please give a slow clap to Utah's Reggie Dunn for returning yet another kickoff for a touchdown. His fourth this year.

Dunn has now returned five kickoffs 100 yards or more for a touchdown, an NCAA record.

And I'm not sure if that record is ever going to get broken.

Conspiracy sprinklers?

With the home team down 14-7 late in the 3rd quarter in the Seahawks-Dolphins game, mysteriously the field sprinklers turn on causing a delay and possibly dousing Seattle's momentum.

It likely wasn't intentional, but conspiracy theorists will eat this one up, especially since Miami came back and won this game 24-21 on a last-second field goal.

Conspiracy theorists, you may discuss...

Fireman Ed calls it quits

If you have paid any attention to the New York Jets, you know Fireman Ed.

He's the crazy fan that wears the fireman hat and made famous the "J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!" chant.

Well, this passionate fan has called it quits. His decision comes after he left at halftime of the Jets' 49-19 loss to the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving night and deleted his Twitter account.

Ed Anzalone, a retired firefighter, says he is no longer going to attend Jets games because "confrontations with other Jets fans have become more common, even though most Jets fans are fantastic."

In a guest column for Metro New York Anzalone wrote, "The stadium has become divided because of the quarterback controversy. The fact that I chose to wear a Mark Sanchez jersey this year, and that fans think I am on the payroll -- which is an outright lie -- have made these confrontations more frequent. Whether it's in the stands, the bathroom or the parking lot, these confrontations are happening on a consistent basis."

Pretty sad to lose a super fan, but pretty telling of the state of the New York Jets.
