Helpful apps to get shoppers through Black Friday

NEW YORK — The 2012 holiday shopping season is about to go into full swing as Black Friday approaches — and it's time to load up your smartphone with some special shopping apps.

According to 2012 Annual Holiday Survey from the Deloitte financial advisory group, 68 percent of all smartphone users will use their devices for holiday shopping.

To start out is the Black Friday survival guide for iPhone and Android devices. Developed for the folks who run the Black Friday website, this free app lets shoppers view leaked and verified Black Friday ads in real time, search for the best deals and create personal shopping lists.

"Shop Savvy" is a free app that lets you use your smartphone camera to scan prices and search for the best in-store and online deals. It's available on Apple and Android devices.

iPhone users should take along the Discount Calculator. It was created to help shoppers estimate ahead of time how much items will cost and how much will be saved during a sale.

One last app, "Find My Car." This app uses location services will help you locate your vehicle in those crowded Black Friday parking lots.
