OGDEN — It's something deep in all of us. That inner artiste, trapped and looking for a way out. The only goal: pure expression.

In an Ogden man's case, that inner artiste may have landed him in handcuffs.

Police said 27-year-old Kenneth Nereim was spotted by officers on the property of Ogden High School around 3 a.m. Saturday, can of spray paint in hand. Next to him? Investigators said they found a wall freshly tagged with graffiti.

When questioned by officers, police said the man acknowledged he knew what he did was wrong, but felt it would help him get a job as a graphic artist.

Nereim was booked into the Weber County Jail.

Investigators said damage was estimated at a few hundred dollars.
