Amanda Butterfield ReportingThis first day of spring on the calendar may not have lived up to your expectations. It's not unusual for this kind of weather to get you frustrated.

Is it winter, is it spring? Even the flowers aren't sure what they should be doing. And you may not even know it, but it could be getting you down.

It was a little too cold to go out on the lake this morning in weather like this. But by afternoon: just right.

"This is about the only day we've had to come down here."

It was also just right for a run, to feed the ducks or to take the dog out.

"First day of spring, what do you expect in Utah!"

"Never would have thought it was the first day of spring this morning."

And you never may have thought this drastic change in weather in one day, could get you down.

John Malouf/Clinical Psychologist: "It affects a lot of people, I think."

John Malouf deals with the weather and depression, and he says it's totally normal to get in a funk when you wake up to snow, when you were expecting blue sky.

John Malouf/Clinical Psychologist: "It's not just that it's cold and unpleasant, it's that we're hoping for something else and we're not getting it. [That's] frustrating for people."

His advice: take advantage of the weather when it's what you want.

John Malouf: "I saw the clouds and said, 'This is my chance, I've got to go.'"

And keep your expectations realistic, because after all, it's spring in Utah.

John Malouf: "Expectations in a lot of ways effect people's moods."

And if you have no expectations, you won't be let down.

John Malouf: "Enjoy it when it's here. Let it go when it's not."
