LONG POND, Pa. (AP) — NASCAR is set for a tripleheader of racing tomorrow at Pocono Raceway from three national series, after rain washed out a Truck Series race today. That race was moved to tomorrow morning, ahead of the scheduled 225 miles of Xfinity racing and a 350-mile Cup Series race. NASCAR says it’s the first time three NASCAR National Series races will be raced on the same day at the same track. So far, the Cup Series race scheduled for this afternoon is still on.

PINE HALL, N.C. (AP) ) — A North Carolina racetrack has lost some partnerships after its owner advertised “Bubba Rope” for sale. The online ad was posted days after a noose was found in the garage stall of Bubba Wallace, the only Black driver in NASCAR’s top series. The racetrack owner’s post on Facebook Marketplace this week sparked a backlash on social media and condemnation from the North Carolina governor’s office. The Winston-Salem Journal reports that a concrete company and a driver series have ended their partnerships with the half-mile, dirt track 311 Speedway in Stokes County.

DENVER (AP) — John Carlos wants to abolish the rule that bans protests at the Olympics. The renowned Olympic protester has written a letter with an influential group of American athletes, calling on the IOC to put in place a new policy done in collaboration with athletes from across the globe. Carlos and Tommie Smith raised their fists on the medals stand at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics to protest racial inequality in the United States. They were sent home for violating rules that ban such protests. Those rules remain in place today, though in the wake of global demonstrations against racial injustice, the IOC has recently expressed willingness to rethink them.

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — English soccer champion Liverpool has condemned the behavior of some fans who gathered in the city to celebrate the club’s Premier League title win after a 30-year wait. Police say officers were pelted with bottles as they dispersed crowds celebrating wildly in the city center. Videos circulating on social media showed a firework hitting the distinctive Liver Building, setting a balcony on fire.

UNDATED (AP) — Mikaela Shiffrin and the rest of the U.S. women’s ski team recently returned to snow for a two-week camp, along with the men’s Europa squad. The camp at Copper Mountain, Colorado, was a chance to go fast through a course again after the season abruptly ended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Copper Mountain is the home of the U.S. speed center and still had a 60-inch base. The warm weather made it challenging for the course workers as the manicured slopes turned mushy by mid-morning. But for Shiffrin and her teammates, it was energizing to be back on skis.
