PARIS (AP) — The Latest from soccer's European Championship (all times local):

11:33 p.m.

Substitute Ricardo Quaresma scored in the 117th minute to help Portugal beat Croatia 1-0 Saturday and advance to the European Championship quarterfinals.

Portugal settled a poor game with its only serious attack, when Cristiano Ronaldo's one shot all match was pushed by goalkeeper Danijel Subasic across the goalmouth. Quaresma stooped to head the ball into an unguarded goal from close range.

Portugal broke away after Croatia forward Ivan Perisic struck the post with a shot.

Portugal will play Poland in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Marseille.

10:50 p.m.

Portugal and Croatia are heading to extra time, tied 0-0 after a poor 90 minutes of play at the European Championship.

Neither team has managed to aim a shot or header on target, and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has not had a single attempt on goal.

Portugal showed more attacking intent when 18-year-old Renato Sanches came on as a 50th-minute substitute. Sanches had a clear shooting chance in the 57th but pulled his right-footed shot well wide.

The teams will play 30 minutes of extra time, and a penalty shootout looms if they are still level.

The winner will play Poland in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Marseille.

9:45 p.m.

Portugal and Croatia are tied 0-0 at halftime in a mistake-filled match at the European Championship.

Cristiano Ronaldo saw little of the ball in Portugal's attack, and Croatia creative midfielders Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic were closely marked.

Neither side managed an attempt on goal until the 25th minute in Lens. Even then, Portugal defender Pepe headed a free kick over the crossbar from what replays appeared to show was an offside position.

Croatia's first effort was Ivan Perisic's 30th-minute shot, which he dragged wide of the goal.

The winner will play Poland in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Marseille.

They sang about Will Grigg more than any other player at the European Championship, even though he didn't get to play for Northern Ireland for even a second.

Throughout Saturday's 1-0 loss to Wales, the catchy chant featuring the previously little-known striker was sung by Northern Ireland fans, just as it was in the previous three matches in France.

"Will Grigg's on fire," they sing, changing the lyrics of the dance hit "Freed From Desire" by Gala. "Your defense is terrified."

Northern Ireland fans hoped the Welsh defense would get a chance to be terrified of the 24-year-old Grigg when the Wigan player started to warm up late in the match at the Parc des Princes. But Grigg never entered the field.

"I don't pick my team around what supporters sing at games," Northern Ireland coach Michael O'Neill said.

8:40 p.m.

Croatia midfielder Ivan Perisic is sporting his latest patriotic hairstyle at the European Championship.

Perisic has the red and white checkerboard design of Croatia's flag sprayed into his cropped hair for the match against Portugal in Lens.

Earlier at Euro 2016, Perisic had the outline of a map of Croatia shaved into the hair on one side of his head.

It seems to be helping the Inter Milan player at this tournament. He has scored in each of Croatia's last two matches.

8:11 p.m.

Ireland has already started to prepare for a possible penalty shootout, and coach Martin O'Neill has already ruled out some of his players.

A day before Ireland faces France in the round of 16 at the European Championship, O'Neill said his team has been practicing spot kicks for some time.

O'Neill says "if we do get to penalties, there are at least three players I know who won't take them, who haven't been able to hit the target much."

When asked to name them, O'Neill was coy.

Smiling, he says "I shall not name them."

7:57 p.m.

Luka Modric and Mario Mandzukic are back in the Croatia lineup to face Cristiano Ronaldo and his Portugal teammates at the European Championship.

Modric and Mandzukic both had muscle injuries and missed Croatia's 2-1 win over defending champion Spain. They replace Marko Rog and Nikola Kalinic as Croatia reverts to the lineup that started a 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic.

Ronaldo will lead Portugal's attack as he seeks a ninth career goal at European Championships, which would match the all-time mark set by France great Michel Platini. He plays alongside Nani, who is making his 100th international appearance.

Portugal made four changes, including three in defense, from the lineup that started a 3-3 draw with Hungary on Wednesday.

Defenders Cedric, Jose Fonte and Raphael Guerreiro, plus midfielder Adrien Silva, come in for Vieirinha, Ricardo Carvalho and Eliseu in defense, plus midfielder Joao Moutinho.

Portugal had only two full days of rest since finishing third in Group F, one day less than Croatia, which topped Group D.

Gareth Bale created the only goal Saturday, delivering a cross that opponent Gareth McAuley put into his own net to give Wales a 1-0 win over Northern Ireland and a spot in the European Championship quarterfinals.

Bale's cross was aimed at teammate Hal Robson-Kanu but McAuley inadvertently tipped it past Northern Ireland goalkeeper Michael McGovern in the 75th minute.

It was a drab, low-quality match between the British rivals as Wales provided little goal threat until the late breakthrough.

Wales will next face either Hungary or Belgium in Lille on Friday.

It was a quiet first half for Gareth Bale, the tournament's co-leading scorer, as Wales failed to register a shot on target in a low-quality first half.

Stuart Dallas came close to putting Northern Ireland in front in the 10th minute but his swerving strike was turned around the post by Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

Hennessey also tipped Jamie Ward's shot over in the 22nd. Kyle Lafferty, recalled to the Northern Irish attack, headed over as he searches for his first goal of Euro 2016.

The ball did go in the net once in the first half, but Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey was in an offside position.

The Russian soccer union says Leonid Slutsky has quit as coach of the national team after a poor European Championship campaign.

Slutsky wanted to leave on Monday following a 3-0 loss to Wales, which eliminated Russia from the tournament in France. The Russian union, however, offered him time to reconsider ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Vitaly Mutko, the head of the Russian soccer union and also the country's sports minister, tells the R-Sport agency that he met Slutsky on Saturday and "today we agreed that he will leave the head coach role."

Mutko adds that Slutsky will continue "to share his knowledge" with the national team but wants to concentrate on coaching Russian club CSKA Moscow. He had been splitting his time between CSKA and Russia.

Jakub Blaszczykowski scored to give Poland a 1-0 halftime lead over Switzerland in Saint-Etienne.

Blaszczykowski sent a low shot between the legs of Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer after Kamil Grosicki drew in the defense in the 39th minute. It was his second goal of the tournament.

Poland created almost all the danger, while Switzerland only had Fabian Schaer's timid header to show for their ball movement.

Poland forward Arkadiusz Milik squandered an opportunity seconds after kickoff at Stade Geoffroy Guichard, shooting wide with the goalmouth open.

Grzegorz Krychowiak also wasted a good chance when he headed a corner well wide.

Robert Lewandowski's troubles in front of the goal continued. The Poland striker hasn't scored a goal in the tournament.

Spain says 10 national soccer team players have undergone doping tests at its European Championship training camp in western France.

The Spanish soccer federation says UEFA officials showed up Saturday morning at the team's hotel at Il de Re to conduct the tests.

The officials collected blood and urine samples from the 10 players, whose names were not released.

The federation says the tests were conducted "without any incidents."

Spain will face Italy on Monday in the Euro 2016 quarterfinals at Stade de France.
