BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A popular recreation pond in Boise has closed due to toxin-producing blue-green algae.
Boise Parks and Recreation closed Pond No. 1 at Esther Simplot park on Thursday.
It's the larger of two ponds at the park and includes a children's beach area. The other pond remains open.
Boise's Public Works Department and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality are working to test and treat the water.
It's not clear when the pond might reopen.
