LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A murder trial in northern Idaho has been called off after officials say they failed to seat a jury.
Clearwater County officials told the Lewiston Tribune that the defense attorney and prosecutor agreed to vacate the current trial on Wednesday after nearly three unsuccessful days of trying to select a jury for the first-degree murder case of Daniel R. Alldrin.
A scheduling conference will take place Tuesday to determine what comes next. The trial was expected to last several weeks.
The 28-year-old Alldrin has been charged with first-degree murder in connection of his 28-day-old daughter — who officials say died in 2016 from multiple organ failure from blunt force trauma that involved extensive bruising and internal injuries.
Alldrin told law enforcement officials at the time that he thought a speaker had fallen on the child.
Alldrin is being held on a $150,000 bond at the Clearwater County jail.
