PANGUITCH — A motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon after a pickup truck crashed into him head-on in Panguitch, officials said.

The crash took place just before 5 p.m. Thursday on state Route 143 just south of Panguitch, according to a news release from Utah Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist was traveling south on the road when a Toyota pickup truck, which was heading north, crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the motorcyclist, UHP said.

The motorcyclist, identified as 68-year-old Kevin S. Barnhurst, of Panguitch, died when he was hit, UHP said.

Drowsy driving is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash, UHP said. The driver of the pickup truck was not identified. It was not clear if that driver was injured in the crash.

No other information about the crash was immediately available Friday.
