Magnitude 4.0 earthquake hits southwest Utah, agency says

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 4.0 earthquake has hit southwestern Utah.

The agency says the earthquake struck shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday and had an epicenter about about 77 miles north of Cedar City, a community of about 32,000 people. The earthquake had a depth of a little less than 1.8 miles (3 kilometers), the USGS says.
