BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Florida Atlantic has hired Dusty May as its new basketball coach, signing him to a five-year contract.

The school announced the move Thursday. May will be introduced to the FAU community on Friday.

May has spent the last three years as an assistant at Florida under coach Mike White — the brother of new FAU athletic director Brian White.

May has also been an assistant at Louisiana Tech, UAB, Murray State and Eastern Michigan. Before becoming an assistant May worked on staffs at Indiana and USC, in support capacities.

May replaces former NBA player Michael Curry, who was fired after five seasons.
