TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State has announced that Xavier Rathan-Mayes will return to the court for his junior season. The 6-foot-4 guard declared for the NBA draft last month but did not hire an agent.

Rathan-Mayes averaged 11.8 points and 4.4 assists last season. He has started 62 of his 65 games at Florida State and has four games where he has scored 30 points or more. Rathan-Mayes needs 135 points to become the 45th player in school history to reach 1,000.

Rathan-Mayes joins Dwayne Bacon in deciding to return to school after assessing their draft chances. Florida State, which is projected by many to have one of the top recruiting classes, was 20-14 last season and advanced to the second round of the NIT.
