2 Old 2 Furious: Group against Utah's DUI bill says legislators are too old to drive
Originally aired: Thursday, July 13, 2017
At first, the full page newspaper advertisements from the American Beverage Institute were a little snarky, and maybe even cute. The first one featured a hypothetical thank-you card from Colorado to the State of Utah to show their appreciation for sending tourism their way. The next one featured skiers who went to jail after one drink. The latest ad against the .05 DUI law, however, goes a bit too far. It shows a handful of Utah's leaders and says that because they are over the age of 65, they are more dangerous on the road than a driver with .05 blood alcohol content. Doug Wright interviews one of the leaders pictured, Representative Steve Handy, as well as the Speaker of Utah's House, Greg Hughes to get their take.
