SALT LAKE CITY — Outdoor recreation can be very expensive, especially in sports like rock climbing, mountain biking and skiing which require a lot of gear.

Buying everything at face value may seem daunting, or even financially insurmountable. Luckily, stores across the state are cropping up to help Utahns find more affordable outdoor gear:

3160 S. State St, Salt Lake City

Recreation Outlet is an outdoor goods store dedicated to making gear affordable and accessible. It sells a variety of outdoor recreation equipment at very significant discounts, including men’s and women’s clothing, stand-up paddleboards, tents, camping kitchen equipment, backpacks, and more.

Its online platform offers free shipping on all orders over $50, and it has a section dedicated to close-out and clearance items.

Patagonia Outlet

The Patagonia Outlet sells past-season Patagonia clothes and gear at significant discounts. It also holds frequent sales to further lower the cost of items for customers, providing quality outdoor recreation garments at affordable prices.

Find anything from Patagonia sweaters and T-shirts to sleeping bags, water bottles, backpacking food, books, and backpacks at the Outlet. Not finding what you’re looking for? Take some time to check out Patagonia Worn Wear, which resells used gear for even bigger discounts.
