As you start this new week, take a minute to breathe and pay attention to all the good in the world. We have a few stories to help you kick this effort off and to remind you that there are small acts of kindness going on all around us.

And if you have your own example of kindness to share, send it our way. The KSL.com "Make Your Week" column features uplifting stories sent in from people outside the newsroom. Man surprises moms with restaurant gift cards

Megan M.

"My friend and I were eating lunch together with our kiddos at a local restaurant and an elderly man took notice of us with our young sons. He commented that we looked like a fun group and my friend made a slightly sheepish comment about trying to keep our noise contained to the back corner of the restaurant. He left us to enjoy our lunch and keep our babies and toddler happy.

"About 30 minutes later, he popped by our table once more and handed us each $10 restaurant gift cards he’d purchased for us. It’s not easy taking kids in public and we often feel judged as mothers, but this man rewarded our efforts with a very kind, unnecessary gesture. He totally made my week."
