When a Virginia man picked out a diamond ring, he expected to give it to the woman he loved. But when that relationship ended before the proposal, he sought to ease his heartbreak by offering the ring to a couple who couldn't afford one of their own.
It all started with a conversation with a student who told the East High School principal she was sleeping behind a grocery store. That led to the creation of a very special program to help the school's approximately 80 homeless students.

A main attraction at Utah's Hogle Zoo — a young polar bear named Nora — seems to be settling into a new life with Hope. "Hope" is actually the name of another polar bear who's helping Nora cope with a tragic early life.
