PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Actress and outspoken Democrat Debra Messing has called a Twitter truce with country singer and "The Voice" judge Blake Shelton following a politically charged spat.

Shelton told Billboard in an interview published Thursday that Republican nominee Donald Trump "says what he thinks, and he has proven that you don't always have to be so afraid." He added "A lot of people are pulling for him, no matter how much Hollywood fights it."

After seeing the comments, Messing tweeted Shelton's girlfriend, Gwen Stefani "please talk to your man to not vote for the person who will STRIP you of your rights."

After Shelton denied on Twitter that he was backing Trump, Messing deleted her Tweet and apologized . Shelton replied , "Thank you sis.. I don't endorse anybody. For this very reason!!"
