The Boxcars top nominees for bluegrass awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Boxcars, Blue Highway and The Del McCoury Band are the leading nominees in the 2014 International Bluegrass Music Awards.

The nominations were announced Wednesday in Nashville, Tennessee, by the International Bluegrass Music Association, which will hold the award show on Oct. 2 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Individually and as a five-piece group, The Boxcars received 10 nominations, including album of the year and two for song of the year. It members, Ron Stewart and Adam Steffey, also drew individual nominations for performance and musicianship.

Blue Highway received nine nominations, including entertainer of the year and album of the year, as well as nominations for band members Tim Stafford and Rob Ickes.

The Del McCoury Band has six nominations with individual nominations for members Del McCoury and Jason Carter.
