LAS VEGAS (AP) — The hit Broadway musical "Mamma Mia!" is closing early next month after only three months on the Las Vegas Strip.
The show, which features the music of Abba, will go dark after Aug. 3.
The Tropicana casino had welcomed the musical into a newly remodeled, 1,100-seat theater in May. Tickets ranged in price from $49 to $135.
"Mamma Mia!" has enjoyed success around the world, including a nearly six-year run at the Mandalay Bay casino that ended in 2008. It has grossed more than $600 million in the U.S. and is one of the longest-running shows on Broadway.
David Kirvin of public relations firm Kirvin Doak said the decision to close was a difficult one and happened in spite of "the very best efforts" of the musical and casino teams.
