THE POST-THANOS WORLD — The Avengers, or what’s left of them, are ready to defeat the archvillain Thanos — whatever it takes.
That’s a mantra repeated over and over by Tony Stark, Thor, Black Widow and others in a new trailer for “Avengers: Endgame” that debuted Thursday morning.
The movie hits theaters April 26 and will wrap up a Marvel Cinematic Universe story arc that has been developing since “Iron Man” in 2008.
If you saw “Avengers: Infinity War” last year, you know that there were lots of casualties in the epic battle between our heroes and Josh Brolin’s Thanos.
Those characters who didn’t survive that movie are strategically absent from the “Endgame” trailer, even though many fans have speculated that they aren’t really gone for good.
The trailer shows the surviving Avengers mourning their lost friends and picking up the pieces, all in a very cinematic black-and-white.
Mysteriously, Thanos also makes no appearance in the trailer. It remains to be seen what role the Infinity Stone-wielding supervillain will play in “Endgame.”
But Captain America, Hawkeye and others will be there, presumably to get revenge on Thanos. And guess what — they’ll be joined by a surprise guest who is revealed at the end of the trailer.
What do you think about the trailer? Will the Avengers finally win out, or is the Marvel Cinematic Universe world doomed to the post-Thanospocalypse forever? Let us know in the comments.
