Mason Jar Lunchbox: Thank Instagram and Pinterest for driving this craze.

Why it works: Kids love to dunk and dip. Plus, keeping things separate keeps the meal appeal high. No one likes a wilted mess for lunch and with this trick crisp foods stay crisp. And you can find millions of photos of inspiration on Instagram.

Try any of these two combinations: Veggies with hummus, oatmeal with yogurt or a basic chopped salad with dressing

Freshen That Sandwich: Sandwiches are a great base but, if you're stuck in a food rut, here are some ways to give your sandwich a serious nutrition boost:

Mix up the bread choices. Try whole grain, sprouted bread or even a cracker. Instead of typical spreads, try avocado or hummus. Instead of typical condiments, try sliced in-season fruit or seed butters.

Freshen up the peanut butter and jelly sandwich by using pear or apple slices instead of jam. A fun cookie cutter can help mix it up as well.

Go for a wrap instead of a sandwich. Use a whole grain tortilla with avocado. You can sprinkle in last night's chopped chicken from dinner. Shredded cheese and fresh salsa are also good choices.

Cracker sandwiches are also great substitutes for regular sandwiches. Use whole wheat crackers and top them with egg salad, cherry tomatoes or cucumbers.
