CEDAR CITY — How sweep it is!

Harrison Butler had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Thunderbirds to their second win of the season over in-state rival Weber State, 65-53, Thursday night in Cedar City.

Dre Marin supplied 15 points, including three 3-pointers, for Southern Utah, which improved to 11-10 and 6-6 in Big Sky play.

Cameron Oluyitan had 10 points and six rebounds for the Thunderbirds, which beat Weber State 90-82 in overtime on Jan. 5.

“Obviously it was a huge win for the program,” SUU head coach Todd Simon said following the game. “Weber for so many years has been the class of the Big Sky, an in-state rival, the whole deal. To get that in-state sweep was extra sweet for our guys.”

Butler dropped in 11 first-half points, and the Thunderbirds held the Wildcats to 8-of-27 shooting en route to a 33-27 lead at the break.

SUU pushed the lead to double-digits, 39-29, with a 6-0 run in the first three minutes of the half, and the Wildcats never took the lead again.

Weber State star Jerrick Harding missed on his first nine attempts from the field and finished with eight points on 2-of-14 shooting.

"We had no rhythm tonight and could get ourselves going offensively," said Weber State coach Randy Rahe in a statement. "We've had a few guys that haven't practiced this week and that got us out of rhythm and we didn't't play well."

Michal Kozak led the Wildcats (14-9, 8-4 Big Sky) with 12 points, and Cody John supplied 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Weber State.

“That’s a great program, they have a lot of history, they’re well coach, and we knew we had to stay consistent and get good shots and that’s what we did,” Marin said in a statement from the university.
