FLORIDA, OF COURSE — Florida is quite possibly the most unique place not only in the United States, but in this great big world.

The state is home to the fern capital of the world, it also houses the world's largest occupied wooden structure, and it's the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles live together. With all of this said, however, it's also the only place you seem to see stuff like this.

What is it exactly? Nothing too interesting; just an alligator in a T-shirt, window shopping at a strip mall.

At first, I thought this gator was on the loose and had a hankering for some key lime pie. If that were the case, I couldn't fault the reptile because I would totally go out with a yellow T-shirt and no pants to get myself some key lime pie. But this little guy wasn't lost, just wandering while its human was also buying pie.

Yeah, this thing is apparently a pet. The man picking it up isn't from animal control. No, he picks the alligator up and holds him like a small child who he’d worried had run off. This man tenderly picks up the gator, nestles it onto his shoulder and carries him back into the store.

This is what makes Florida, Florida. This is something that just happens in a busy area full of foot traffic and tourists. It seems totally normal that a gator is out and about, and it's not that strange he's in a T-shirt. Then, on top of all that, the gator owner gingerly picks up the razor-toothed predator and carries him into a shop that sells desserts. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Just Florida, and it's awesome.

You do you, Florida. I’m proud of you and all your quirky, gator-loving ways.
