THE BACKSEAT — It seems crazy to me that the Lil Nas X song "Old Town Road" has turned into an absolute phenomenon. The song is everywhere, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down at all.
I have a personal bone to pick with my sister-in-law who introduced the song to my kids. Ever since that day, it’s been a daily occurrence — and multiple times a day at that — that my kids ask for "Old Town Road." Thankfully, the song is only 2 minutes long; however, I've probably listened to it for a solid four hours at this point.
Despite my feelings toward the tune, I'm now seeing that my kids aren't the only ones captured by its infecting tune and catchy rhythm. The groove has breached even the youngest of listeners, as is evidenced by this video.
This is Ella Dooley. As you can see, she's one of the youngest Lil Nas X fans. According to the YouTube description "Old Town Road" is her favorite song (which I think that's pretty apparent). Ella can't even walk, but she can roll with the best of them and pop those shoulders like no one's business.
Seriously, little Ella is a much better dancer than me, which isn't saying a lot, but I'm also a full-grown man who doesn't need a bib for all of my drool. Well, I usually don't.
I am still not as onboard with the song as most other people — especially Ella — but I may like it just a little bit more now that I know it's her favorite song. Heck, I might even use some of those dance moves she's taught me.
