THE GYM — A priest at a Catholic high school in Florida may be single-handedly taking on the historical bad rap of Catholic schools.
Father Ricardo Rivera from Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale recently added his own special touch to a pep rally, and the students could not even.
The video shows the very end of a cheer routine with a mix of the infamous Darth Vader theme from Star Wars, "The Imperial March." That’s when Rivera walks out onto the floor.
With no one missing how his black cassock resembles Vader’s dramatic cape, Rivera takes command of the troop and leads them in a very un-Vader-like dance. Of course, the crowd goes wild with cheering and screams so loud they drown out the music.
But you can’t stop the beat, and Rivera finishes the routine with vim, vigor and enthusiasm — and a very pop star vibe.
The joy on his face and the response from the crowd is enough to give you the feel-good fuzzies all day. It also may inspire a quick dance party at your house while imagining yourself as a Vader backup dancer. You know, in case Vader ever starts his own pop band. (I’m pulling for the name Vader and the Troopers.)
