THE PARK — Mashups are one of the greatest gifts of the internet.

From song medlies to crossover memes and everything in between, a good mashup will surprise and delight its audience. Mashups also have the bonus of showing us that the ingenuity of the human spirit is still alive and well, just with more entertainment value than, say, invention of the wheel.

This featured video may be my personal favorite mashup to date. Its genius lies in nostalgia, solid technical skills, and the kind of humor that makes you bark with laughter.

Picture this: “Jurassic Park” is back with a new beast to frighten you with a chase scene for the ages. That monster? Pee-wee Herman.

Be afraid.

The video is set in the classic chase scene from the first movie in the Jurassic Park franchise. You know the one, where Jeff Goldblum is lying injured (chest bared) in the back of a speeding jeep while a Tyrannosaurus rex roars in the mirror that says “objects look closer than they appear.”

But instead of a T. rex roaring, it’s Pee-wee’s signature goofy, glottal laugh as he rides his famously tricked-out bike through the park.

It’s silly and beautiful at the same time; just like a creative and funny mashup should be.

Admittedly, the video is a couple years old. But does perfect entertainment ever age out? No. No it does not.
