THE STUDIO — When we're kids, we all have dreams of grandeur. At one time, my career options were professional baseball player, racecar driver, superhero and famous actor.
So far none of those have come to pass, but who knows?
For the 4-year-old in this video, his dreams may include becoming a rock star as a drummer and he just may make it.
This little musician was at the NAMM show in California. NAMM is a music foundation that promotes and supports music education, and they're probably pretty happy with this kid. The video is only 50 seconds long, but it's pretty incredible to see what the boy can do.
He's got rhythm, which is obviously important for a drummer, and also quick hands, which is again important. One thing he has loads of which may be the most important, however, is swagger. The kid owns that drum kit and he knows it. What he's doing is no big deal to him because it's just what he does, and it turns out he does it incredibly well.
My favorite part of the video is the boy, but my second favorite part is the bass player who was playing along and just gave up and could do nothing more than shake his head and sit in shock.
These videos depress me a little as it reminds me of my total and utter lack of talent in pretty much anything, but I also love them because seeing these talented kids do something incredible is also equal parts inspiring and adorable.
