THE DOG WALK — Getting dogs into clothes has been a favorite pastime among Americans for decades, but only recently have the clothes become trendy for their functionality. Booties in particular are increasingly popular footwear for dogs to protect their feet in the snow, water or other situations where they may otherwise get injured.

This South Dakota Police dog, Jary, tried out his new kicks earlier this month. Needless to say, he was not a huge fan of his snow boots. Jary awkwardly lifted up his feet, trying out the boots and attempting to walk in conditions heretofore never experienced. Thinking he might adjust to the footwear with a toy as encouragement, the policemen attempted to play with him only to incite some clumsy running and dainty, careful steps.

This video was filmed by the Rapid City Police Department and shared by the Associated Press on Dec. 10.
