WEST JORDAN — New DNA technology being tested by the West Jordan Police department aims to take criminals off the street faster and more efficiently.
The new product is known as Rapid Hit DNA, and is being called the future of DNA for law enforcement in trying to identify suspects. The system helps provide fast, accurate results for DNA analysis in just a few hours instead of taking weeks or months.
"For the first time ever really, it allows the DNA analysis to be used as part of the investigation," said West Jordan Police Sgt. Dan Roberts.
The system is compact and can be operated outside of a laboratory.
