SALT LAKE CITY — Summer is an excellent time to catch up on reading, whether before bed, on an annual Lake Powell trip or relaxing in a park — longer and warmer days have opened up many opportunities to sit down with a good book.

The key to great summer reads, however, involves finding the right book. Here are KSL.com’s recommendations:

Where the Crawdads Sing

By Delia Owens

“The Marsh Girl” lives in a marsh near the small town of Barkley Cove along the North Carolina coast. For years now rumors have permeated the area, depicting her as primitive and monstrous. As a result, when popular and handsome Chase Andrews is found dead the townspeople immediately turn to the marsh girl, Kya Clark, as a suspect.

Little do they know, she is an intelligent and passionate girl who has survived for years alone after being abandoned by her entire family. This novel presents both a love story and a mystery as Kya navigates her way through a complicated love life, a struggle to survive and a constant bombardment of public scorn.
