THE AIRPORT — We've all thought about it: "What would happen if I rode that conveyor belt at the airport?" We've even seen movies and TV shows create interpretations of the ride, but we now know it's a terrible idea and that it should never be done.
This video shows a 2-year-old boy at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport climb onto a conveyor belt and take it for a 5-minute ride.
The airport released multiple surveillance camera videos of the boy's short-yet-eventful journey. Eventually, he comes out in the TSA bag room where some helpful employees grab him and help him.
According to a news report from WSB-TV in Atlanta, the mother of the boy set him down briefly to print her tickets. That's when her son climbed onto the belt and disappeared. Being a parent myself, I know how quickly these things happen. A child's curiosity is almost infinitely quicker than a parent's physical reaction time.
The poor child must have been scared, and apparently, he ended up in the hospital after the event with some cuts and a fractured hand but was otherwise OK.
The video is pretty incredible to see, and I know we all are still curious about what it would be like to live out this odd fantasy — but don't. This poor little guy found out why this is a bad idea, and the mother likely got the scare of her life.
