He was there from the very beginnings and stood throughout in the leading councils of the Church. He witnessed firsthand apostasy in Ohio, mobs in Jackson County, and even war against the Saints in northern Missouri. He was threatened, driven, and even tarred and feathered. Along the way, he gave away his personal fortune and finally his own life. He wore out his life in the service of the Master and died before his time, faithful to the end and some would say, a martyr to the cause. Who was he — the first Bishop of this dispensation — Edward Partridge. This History of the Saints special presentation tells the unknown story of the one of the early Restoration’s greatest men.

Special General Conference programming for KSL TV

On the 229th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will dedicate a temple just a few blocks away from Independence Hall in downtown Philadelphia. The city was founded by William Penn, who sought religious liberty, and the right to religious freedom was born in this city. The LDS Church has always had a strong belief in what is known as the first freedom listed in the Bill of Rights, and LDS leaders are concerned that religious freedom is under increasing pressure. In this documentary Elder Dallin H. Oaks, who has been a strong voice for religious freedom, will address why he believes this founding document is divinely inspired. Then Pope Francis speaks on the challenges religious freedom is facing around the world.
