JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Police in Florida say they've recovered a van with a body still inside it that was stolen from a cremation business.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says someone spotted the abandoned minivan on Tuesday, a day after it was stolen from Affordable Cremation Solutions. The body of a man who had passed away at a Jacksonville hospital was still strapped to a cot in the back.
The Florida Times-Union reports the 56-year-old minivan driver told police he parked and went inside the office to drop off paperwork. The doors were unlocked and the engine was running. When the driver got back outside, he saw the van being driven away.
Police had issued an alert asking anyone to contact them if they spotted the van.
No arrests have been reported.
