This is Heidi Walker of the Salt Lake Chamber with your Utah Business Report.

Tonight is one of the Salt Lake Chamber's biggest events of the year as we honor former Utah Governor Michael O. Leavitt as a Giant In Our City. The Giant In Our City award is the most prestigious business award given in Utah. It's our great honor and privilege to honor Governor Leavitt, who will be the 35th person to receive this award.

From his public service to his success in the private sector, Governor Leavitt has had the vision and determination that has elevated the quality of life for all Utahns.

Elected to office three times, Leavitt served as Utah's chief executive from 1993 to 2003. During his tenure as governor, Utah had the longest sustained economic expansion in modern state history. He was appointed administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in 2003, then secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services in 2005 by President George W. Bush.

The Giant In Our City gala will take place at the Grand America Hotel tonight. To learn more about this award and event, please visit slchamber.com. That's slchamber.com.
